BETHLEHEM, N.H. (AP) - A northern New Hampshire nonprofit that’s helped small businesses and artists for 25 years is ending employment for 13 staffers and suspending or ending some programs as it decides its future.

The Caledonian-Record reports the changes at the Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network are scheduled to start Jan. 1, 2019. Its store and gallery in Bethlehem will stay open through Dec. 31.

WREN will spend 90 days evaluating its options.

Executive Director Alison Chisolm said falls sales were off and some hoped-for grants didn’t materialize. She said programs that are ending include incubator spaces in Bethlehem and Berlin and a second retail store the Mt. Washington Resort. WREN will keep its Main Street property in Bethlehem, two condominium properties and an undeveloped Main Street parcel.

WREN has about 800 members, most in the North Country.
