KINSTON, N.C. (AP) - Workers have pulled a tractor-trailer out of a river in North Carolina a day after it skidded off a road, but searchers have yet to find the driver.
WITN in Greenville reports the N.C. Highway Patrol said the rig was pulled out of the Neuse River near Kinston on Monday.
Authorities say the rig ran off U.S. 70 early Sunday. Dive teams reached the truck’s cab on Sunday but no driver was found.
State wildlife officers were to go out on the river Monday, while boats equipped with sonar are also expected to help with the search.
U.S. 70 was closed to traffic for 24 hours.
