ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Forecasters say expected snowfall this weekend will create hazardous travel conditions in parts of New Mexico, including portions of Interstates 25 and 40 and U.S. Highways 285 and 550.

The National Weather Service said Saturday that snowfall will occur overnight across western New Mexico before expanding eastward Sunday across northern and central New Mexico.

According to forecasters, accumulations of snow are likely even in lower elevations due to the very cold air mass accompanying an upper level trough being pushed toward the southeast by the jet stream.

Over 1 foot (30 centimeters) of snow is possible across the northwest mountains.
