GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man heading to work and a would-be robber fired at each other outside a South Carolina home.

Greenville County deputies said the homeowner told them a man in dark clothing with his face covered came out from behind bushes with a gun as he headed to his car Thursday morning in Greenville.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ryan Flood says the homeowner and the would-be robber fired at each other, but neither appeared to be wounded.

Flood said in a statement the suspect ran across state Highway 290 to a red pickup and drove away.

Flood says deputies are trying to find the suspect.
