PHOENIX (AP) - A suspect who was killed after exchanging gunfire with Phoenix police officers has now been identified.

It was the second fatal officer-involved incident Monday.

Police responded around 2 a.m. to a report about a shooting near Bell Road and 35th Avenue and encountered a male suspect in the street.

Investigators say the suspect - identified as 20-year-old Bryce Schenkenberg - refused to drop a handgun and fired.

The officers returned fire, hitting the suspect and he was pronounced dead.

Police say two victims with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds were found inside a home. They say the victims and suspect knew each other, but a motive hasn’t been determined.

A few hours earlier several miles south, a male suspect in a mobile park pointed a gun at officers and was fatally shot.
