SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah will receive $2.3 million in federal funds as part of a project to roll out more public transportation that is propelled by low- or no-emissions systems.
The funding for the advanced bus project comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation. More than 50 projects in numerous states will share in more than $84 million.
Eligible projects include the purchase or lease of buses that are powered by hybrid or battery electric engines. Related infrastructure investments such as charging stations also are eligible.
In Utah, the state transportation department will receive the funds on behalf of Park City Transit to purchase battery electric vehicles and chargers.
