The New York Post’s Salena Zito entered into Alex Jones territory this week as far as Facebook is concerned — her op-ed on President Trump’s supporters was flagged as “spam.”
A Wednesday column titled “Why Trump’s supporters won’t care about Cohen and Manafort’s convictions” was removed from the social media giant’s platform shortly after it was posted for violating “community standards.”
The move comes in the wake of a national censorship debate involving Mr. Jones of InfoWars; he was banned from Facebook, Apple, YouTube and other websites under the guise of “hate speech” violations.
“So this is interesting … @facebook took down my post of my reporting for the @nypost — I’ve received nine separate messages from readers telling me the same thing has happened to them. ’sup @facebook?” she tweeted Thursday morning.
Some respondents on Twitter said they were able to share the story in their own feed, while others echoed the author’s problems.
The story was ultimately restored after The Daily Caller reached out to Facebook for comment.
“Before Facebook restored Zito’s post — but after TheDCNF reached out for comment — this reporter was able to share a link to the story on his personal Facebook page but without the headline, photo and sub-headline that typically accompany such posts, significantly reducing its visibility,” the website reported.
A spokesman said that someone would look into the incident.
