SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (AP) - A small, private Connecticut college is closing at the end of the fall 2018 semester due to accreditation issues.

Lincoln College of New England Interim President Dr. Jim Vernon said in a letter Monday that the school will close on Dec. 31, 2018. According to Vernon, the school decided to close after the New England Association of Schools and Colleges put it on probation.

The college says it was placed on probation because it wasn’t in compliance with standards concerning planning, organization, academic programming and other areas.

LCNE has made arrangements with Goodwin College to offer classes for students.
