ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - The governing body for Albany State University in Georgia has promoted an interim vice president to lead the school permanently.

The Board of Regents named Marion Fedrick to the post Tuesday. Fedrick had served as ASU’s interim executive vice president since Oct. 16, 2017.

The school says it has undertaken several initiatives since Fedrick assumed a leadership role at Albany State. These include ongoing improvements for students’ educational and campus experiences and a comprehensive effort with faculty to reimagine the university’s academics.

Fedrick served as vice chancellor for human resources at the University System of Georgia prior to her executive role. She oversaw administration of all system-wide human resources initiatives, employee benefits programs and organizational and leadership development initiatives.

Fedrick received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia.
