DAWSON, Pa. (AP) - Officials say a child riding a bicycle on railroad tracks in western Pennsylvania was struck by a train.
Emergency dispatchers in Fayette County said the child was hit shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Dawson.
Dispatchers said the child was flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where a condition report wasn’t immediately available.
State police are investigating along with CSX, which said in a statement that its personnel were working with local law enforcement, and “our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this tragic accident.”
