BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two men killed in a two-car wreck in Alabama.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s office told news outlets that 37-year-old James John Griffith and 22-year-old Michael Lane Ray were killed in the wreck Sunday afternoon. Both men were from McCalla.
Sheriff’s deputies said Griffith’s car hit Ray’s car from behind during heavy rain. Ray died at the scene. Griffith was taken to a hospital where he died about 90 minutes after the wreck.
A woman in Ray’s car was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Two children in Griffith’s car were also taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
