SHELTON, Conn. (AP) - A retired Connecticut teacher charged with sexually assaulting a former student he was mentoring has had his case transferred to a higher court.
The New Haven Register reports that 76-year-old David Munson will appear in Superior Court in Milford on May 8 to face charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
A 25-year-old man told counselors at a rape crisis center earlier this year he was assaulted by the former teacher in September 2005 when he was 13 years old.
Munson taught in Shelton and has been retired since 1999.
Munson’s lawyer, Jason Lipsky, says his client denies the allegations, and he will enter a not guilty plea.
Munson is free on $100,000 bond.
