LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Hail fell across portions of Arkansas as a cold front pushed through, and the storm system also prompted tornado warnings and a freeze warning.

Forecasters said rotating storms Tuesday afternoon were capable of producing tornadoes. As the bad weather passed through western Arkansas it dropped hail in a number of locations. Storms were expected to push into the Ohio Valley later, bringing widespread damaging winds, large hail and possibly a few strong tornadoes.

The National Weather Service said temperatures would plummet after the cold front passes. A freeze warning is in effect for parts of northern and western Arkansas, where forecasters warned that overnight temperatures could dip into the 20s.
