KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) - The sloop Clearwater is set to sail on the Hudson River.

The sloop will kick off its spring season Saturday with a public sail from its Kingston home port.

The Clearwater was made in 1969 to look like the Dutch sloops that used to carry food and other supplies up and down the Hudson River

Folk singer Pete Seeger and like-minded environmentalists wanted the ship to be a symbol of the river and a sort of floating classroom.
