HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A new nonprofit aims to establish a one-stop shop for addiction treatment and care in West Virginia.
The Herald-Dispatch reports that the joint effort led by Cabell Huntington Hospital, Marshall Health and St. Mary’s Medical Center, in partnership with Valley Health and Thomas Health System was announced Wednesday in Huntington. It’s called PROACT, which stands for Provider Response Organization for Addiction Care and Treatment.
PROACT will address medical, social and behavioral issues through outpatient treatment options targeted at overdose patients and those discharged from inpatient detox units. It’ll also accept walk-ins and referrals.
It’s funded by the involved providers and grants, business operations and private donations.
It’ll operate in Huntington and Charleston. Marshall Health CEO Beth Hammers says it’s expected to begin operating within five months.
