WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - Winners of the 2017 Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters contest have been announced in White Sulphur Springs.

Twenty-nine stations in Virginia and West Virginia submitted 370 entries.

The winners for outstanding news operation are WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia; WCYB-TV in Bristol, Virginia; WVTF-FM in Roanoke, Virginia, and WINA-AM/FM in Charlottesville, Virginia.



Charlottesville television pioneer Harold Wright was honored with the Robert Gallimore Distinguished Service Award. He is vice president and general manager of WVIR, where he’s run the NBC affiliate for nearly five decades.

The awards are being presented at the broadcasters group’s annual meeting at The Greenbrier Resort.
