JEFFERSON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a driver struck a state trooper and didn’t stop on a road in the North Carolina mountains.

The Highway Patrol said the trooper was treated for minor injuries after he was hit on a road in Ashe County south of Jefferson.

Authorities say they found security camera images of the pickup truck that hit the trooper from a nearby convenience store. It is a red Nissan Frontier extended cab with possible chrome bumpers and alloy wheels.

The Highway Patrol said in a statement that the trooper was picking up debris from the road when he was struck around 2 p.m. Friday.
