Motorist dies after driving car off Navy Pier into lake

CHICAGO (AP) - A motorist has died after driving off the Navy Pier in Chicago.

Chicago Fire Department officials say the motorist died Friday night after being rescued from Lake Michigan by divers and transported to a hospital.

They say the car went into the lake about 5:30 p.m. Fire department divers pulled the driver out of the water about an hour later.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the car drove off the pier.
