CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning for northwest Wyoming, including Yellowstone National Park and the mountains surrounding Jackson.

Up to 19 inches (48 centimeters) of snow could fall between midnight Wednesday and Friday morning.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Cody, Jackson, Buffalo and Afton as well as the Bighorn, Wind River and extreme western mountains.



A winter storm watch is posted for portions of northeast and eastern Wyoming, including Gillette, Sheridan and Lusk.

The Weather Service says snow is expected to spread across northern Wyoming Thursday before winding down in the north Friday afternoon and the eastern part of the state later Friday.

High winds plagued areas of state Wednesday. Gusts of over 60 mph (96.5 kph) were recorded in southeast Wyoming.
