OPINION:
Thank you, ruling elite, for kicking the can down the road again with the staggering $1.3-trillion omnibus and making all of us taxpayers subject to the insatiable appetite of Beltway politicians. The total debt now owed by the United States is $21 trillion-plus and counting.
As a taxpayer, the most egregious fact about this immoral debt is the fact that Congress stubbornly refuses to entertain spending cuts. Every American has a budget that runs on a simple premise: You cannot spend more than you earn.
Dramatic action must be taken in a multi-pronged initiative to pay down the debt, and it will require severe spending cuts and the elimination of waste, fraud, abuse, duplication and unconstitutional federal agencies. This way we will move our nation onto a path of solvency rather than bankruptcy.
The time is now for dramatic action to reset the federal government and the mindset of out-of-touch politicians.
Article V of the U.S. Constitution is the answer. The Convention of States Project is working to limit the size, scope and power of the federal government, call for fiscal restraint and term limits on federal officials (such as the Congress and judiciary). Article V is the most rational and reasonable solution to a massive problem at the federal level, and I’m all in. You can learn more at conventionofstates.com.
