PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say several people were injured when two vehicles carrying children collided head-on in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 in central Phoenix early Friday morning.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the woman driving a sedan traveling eastbound in westbound lanes was seriously injured but that none of the injuries appeared life-threatening.

DPS spokesman says Raul Garcia two young children were passengers in the car and that a man was driving a rental truck towing a car with a woman and two children as passengers.

Garcia says cause of the wreck is under investigation but that there was no immediate evidence of impairment.

Cleanup and investigation after the 3:40 a.m. wreck near 19th Avenue kept a lane closed during the start of the morning commute.
