LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A man believed to be the operator of a street sweeper in which he became pinned has died.
News outlets report Gwinnett County firefighters and police responded to a report of a person stuck in a street sweeper in a gas station parking lot early Thursday morning. Crews found the man pinned between the vehicle’s hydraulic arm and hopper, which functions as the collection bin. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
Construction workers had found the vehicle still running. Investigators believe the man was attempting to identify or correct a mechanical issue when he became lodged in the mechanism.
The identity of the victim has not been released. WSB-TV reports that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified.
