HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say a woman has died and a man has been rescued by police officers after a fire broke out inside an upstate New York home.

Authorities say the fire was reported around 5 a.m. Wednesday in the Washington County village of Hudson Falls, 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Albany.

Police say the two-story home was fully engulfed when emergency crews arrived on the scene. A neighbor brought a ladder that two village police officers used to rescue a man from the porch of the burning home.

Firefighters found a woman’s body once they were able to get inside the house. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Their names haven’t been released.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
