ELKMONT, Ala. (AP) - Nearly two dozen horses have been killed after a barn fire in northern Alabama.

WBMA-TV reports that the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office says 23 horses died in a fire around 4:00 a.m. Tuesday. The owners were able to save two other horses.

Authorities are unsure how the fire begun. Investigators are investigating the matter.
