MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say two officers responding to a street fight fatally shot a 37-year-old man after he fired a gun.
Police say the shooting happened at about 10 p.m. Sunday in a neighborhood about seven miles north of downtown. Police say in a statement the officers were responding to “a large fight” with armed suspects on a street.
The man who police shot died at the scene. He was not identified.
It wasn’t clear from the police statement whether the man had fired his gun in the direction of the police officers.
Police say the two officers involved in the shooting are men. One is a 24-year-old with two years of experience and the other is a 26-year-old with five years of experience. They are on administrative duty pending an investigation.
