HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a pedestrian has been struck and killed while walking in the road along a busy section of Interstate 77 in North Carolina.
Troopers say 43-year-old Jamie Allen may have been under the influence of alcohol when he was struck early Saturday on I-77 about 12 miles (20 kilometers) north of Uptown Charlotte.
The Huntersville Fire Department said on Twitter a passenger in the vehicle that struck Allen was injured and taken to the hospital.
The incident closed the northbound lanes of I-77 for several hours.
