CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Small game hunting season is underway in New Hampshire.
The season started Friday for hunting gray squirrels. By mid-October, the season will have started for hunting a variety of small game, including shoeshoe hare, ruffled grouse, woodcock and pheasants.
A survey of small game hunters last year found that ruffled grouse were the most popular small game species in New Hampshire, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the hours spent hunting.
