CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a pedestrian in Carson City who was struck by a food truck while attempting to cross a street northeast of downtown.

The Nevada Appeal reports (https://tinyurl.com/ybyo96za) the victim was an elderly, male transient.

NHP Lt. Mike Edgell says he was crossing Long Street near State Street when he was hit by the truck at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. He died at the scene.

Edgell says neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been involved, but he says glare from the sun may have played a role in the accident.
