SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A San Francisco airport official says a police officer was stabbed in the leg during a confrontation at San Francisco International Airport.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2xEA0lG) the San Francisco police officer was hospitalized on Tuesday after being stabbed. The extent of the officer’s injuries was not immediately known, but they were not believed to be life-threatening.

Airport spokesman Doug Yakel says the officer, who was not identified, was responding to reports of a suspicious person walking on the lower level roadway in front of Terminal 1.

When the officer arrived, the man was inside the baggage claim area and lunged at him with a knife.

The suspect was arrested.
