DALLAS (AP) - Officials in Dallas County are considering overhauling an obscure law enforcement agency after four of its officers were fired this month and two others resigned amid allegations of misconduct.
The controversy stems from complaints filed earlier this year by an officer with the Dallas County Marshals Service alleging, among other accusations, that a supervisor ordered him to falsify a report.
County Commissioner John Wiley Price tells The Dallas Morning News that a review of the agency found “plenty of improprieties.” The county has declined to release a report resulting from the review.
The marshals service was established only two years ago and is charged primarily with guarding county buildings.
County Judge Clay Jenkins says he wants to eliminate the agency and fold its building security duties into the sheriff’s department.
