LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - Officials say a fire has destroyed the public works building of a township near Pittsburgh along with numerous vehicles and pieces of road equipment.
Emergency dispatchers in Westmoreland County said no injuries were reported in the 8:45 a.m. Sunday blaze in the Unity Township building.
Supervisor Mike O’Barto called the building “a total devastating loss.” He said eight or nine trucks were in the building and a shed next door, and all were destroyed along with other equipment used by the public works crew.
A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. O’Barto told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he wasn’t sure the township could get replacement trucks by the time winter arrives.
