Police: Pedestrian hit, killed by car while crossing street

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Police say an 18-year-old pedestrian is dead after he was hit by a car as he was crossing the street in Rhode Island.

Warwick police say city resident Kurtis Lee Prosser died of his injuries Friday night at Rhode Island Hospital.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say weather conditions and poor lighting played a role in the crash. Speed and impairment aren’t considered factors.
