WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say two people were hurt when they fell off an overpass onto some railroad tracks while being pursued in connection with an armed robbery.

Local news outlets report that the D.C. Fire Department says U.S. Park Police and the Metropolitan Police Department were chasing a car connected to the armed robbery when three people jumped from the vehicle early Sunday. At least two of them fell over a wall onto an Interstate 295 overpass.

Fire officials say the two had to be plucked from tracks below using a rope and baskets. Authorities say the third person was found hiding nearby. Railroad traffic was halted during the rescue and both were taken with non-life-threatening injuries to hospitals.

It was unclear if any charges were filed. Their names weren’t immediately released.
