STONEWALL, Texas (AP) - The pilot of a small plane and his passenger - a 9-year-old girl - have died when the aircraft crashed in southeastern Gillespie County, near Fredericksburg in central Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identifies the pilot as 39-year-old Shane Lee Buck of Fredericksburg. The name of the girl with him aboard the single-engine plane has not been released.

Authorities say the aircraft went down in a pasture Sunday evening about a mile south of Stonewall, which is about 12 miles (19.31 kilometers) east of Fredericksburg.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
