BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer investigating a suspicious person fired his gun at a man who pointed a weapon at him in South Carolina.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said the officer was not hurt and the man ran into the woods on the side of a road in Batesburg-Leesville after the shots were fired. It wasn’t known if the man was struck.
Koon said on a video posted to Twitter that the officer was flagged down by someone who reported a suspicious person in the road around 4:20 p.m. Monday.
