NEW YORK (AP) - First responders and other state employees who developed health conditions after working at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 terror attack are getting unlimited sick leave.
Under the bill, signed by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday, eligible workers will get unlimited paid sick leave at 100 percent of their regular salary dating back to their diagnosis.
Cuomo’s office says similar paid leave benefits are currently available for New York City police, fire, corrections and sanitation employees.
