ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A motorcyclist killed in a weekend crash on the Seward Highway was a 16-year-old student at South High School in Anchorage.

Alaska State Troopers say the biker killed near Girdwood was Emily Tredway, a junior at South High.

Anchorage television station KTVA (https://bit.ly/2wVxabX) reports troopers on Saturday afternoon received a call of a crash on the highway just north of the Alyeska Highway.

Investigators determined the teen was traveling south when she lost control and struck a guardrail.

She was pronounced dead at an Anchorage hospital.

Her family said she was an experienced rider who had participated in a trip across the country.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
