TAPPAHANNOCK, Va. (AP) - Virginia state police are investigating two fatal wrecks in Louisa and Essex counties.

Police say the first crash occurred at roughly 6:30 p.m. on Saturday when 62-year-old Kevin Bareford was driving his Chevrolet Silverado on Lewis Level Road just north of Sunnyside Road in Essex County and ran into a gully. Police say Bareford then struck several trees. Bareford was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second wreck occurred just before midnight when a pickup truck ran off the road in the 5400 block of Byrd Mill Road in Louisa County and struck a tree. Police say one person was pronounced dead as a result of the wreck.



The causes of both crashes are under investigation.
