MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A police officer working at the scene of a motorcycle accident was injured when an alleged drunken driver crashed into a parked cruiser.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Friday in Middle Township.
Authorities say the cruiser was parked in a northbound side of Route 47 and the car’s overhead emergency lights were on.
They say a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Lawrence Gallo, of North Wildwood, rear-ended the cruiser while the officer was inside.
The officer was treated at a hospital for neck and back pain. Gallo wasn’t injured.
Gallo was charged with drunken driving. It wasn’t known Sunday if he’s retained an attorney.
