BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a man who fled a traffic crash and was the target of a search was found swimming across a canal in Florida.

News outlets report the man crashed into a woman’s parked Ford Flex in Boca Raton on Tuesday around 8 a.m.

Boca Raton police spokeswoman Jessica Desir says the man begged the woman not to call the police and ran away when the woman called anyway.

According to a police report, authorities later found the man swimming across the canal.

He was arrested shortly afterward. It’s unclear what the man was charged with or if he has a lawyer.
