VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Corrections officials in south Georgia are investigating the death of an inmate as an apparent suicide.

The Department of Corrections said in a news release that inmate Milton Jones was found unresponsive in his cell at Valdosta State Prison just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Prison medical staff tried to revive the 33-year-old inmate using CPR.

The news release says Jones was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m.



Jones had been convicted of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime and was serving a 21-year sentence.
