BEAVER, Pa. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to one year in jail and two years on house arrest after pleading no contest in the hit-and-run death of a man in Pennsylvania.
The Beaver County Times reports that 63-year-old William Aeschbacher entered the plea to a felony charge of causing an accident involving death and two summary offenses.
Police in Beaver County said 25-year-old Brandon Bixler was struck early on Nov. 27 in Industry. Authorities believe he was walking home from a bar.
Investigators said the defendant initially said he may have struck a tree but later said he turned to drive through the area again after the accident and realized that he had hit a person.
Defense attorney Stephen Colafella said his client couldn’t see the victim lying in the road.
