LEBANON, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire skate park named in honor of a 28-year-old Lebanon skateboarder who died two years ago is scheduled to open this weekend.
The parents of Tyler Kirschner were surprised to learn their son had built a prolific online blog under the username Rusty Berrings. New Hampshire Public Radio reports the Kirschners decided to raise money to renovate the local skate park - and ended up raising about $350,000.
Buddy Kirschner, the father, says it doesn’t take away the pain of losing his son, but he is grateful so many people supported the project.
The opening celebration, featuring a cookout and live music, will kick off Saturday at 1 p.m.
