OSWEGO, N.Y. (AP) - A $25 million reconstruction project on an aging Oswego Canal lock will begin next month.

The lock near the Oswego Canal’s entrance from Lake Ontario will be substantially rebuilt over the next several years.

The 103-year-old lock - called Lock O-7 - is a crucial link in the almost 24-mile waterway connecting Lake Ontario to the Erie Canal.

The work is expected to be finished by 2020.
