NEW SHOREHAM, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island say two people have been injured in a small plane crash on Block Island.

New Shoreham Police Chief Vincent Carlone tells WPRI-TV the two occupants were airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries on Sunday.

He says the plane overshot the runway while trying to land and ended up in a field.



Airport officials tell The Providence Journal the crash happened at Block Island State Airport.

The two people were not immediately identified.
