OPINION:
My condolences to the families of the 20 people killed in last weekend’s Texas church shootings, and speedy recoveries to the 26 persons injured.
The political left has now pounced upon the gun-control narrative again. But I strongly believe they’ve jumped the gun on this one. According to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the suspect was denied a gun in the past. And according to the U.S. Air Force, it was their error that caused the suspect to pass a background check.
So Democrats and gun-control activists should ask themselves the following questions with regard to the recent Texas shootings: Which gun-control measures could have corrected the error of the Air Force? What if law-abiding citizens in places like Chicago and Jamaica had guns? Do you believe criminals there would still be as brave?
No amount of gun control could have stopped the Las Vegas shooter or this church shooter. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
