Rep. Robert Pittenger is using the war on Christmas to fend off a primary challenger in an ad released in his district on Monday.
“I’ve dedicated my life to sharing God’s love through Jesus Christ. Let’s end political correctness and put the true meaning of Christ back in Christmas,” Mr. Pittenger says in the ad.
He also wishes his constituents a Merry Christmas. The narrator chastises those who “prioritize political correctness” and “attacking our faith and values.”
The ad originally debuted Friday on cable television, but aired on radio, digital and broadcast stations in Mr. Pittenger’s district on Monday.
Mr. Pittenger is fending off the same primary challenger that nearly defeated him in 2016. Mark Harris, a former pastor, lost last June by fewer than 150 votes, according to Roll Call.
Mr. Harris is running again in 2018, and there are rumors he’s vying for former White House chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon’s backing.
