NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fatal Thanksgiving Day shooting in New Jersey’s largest city.

Newark police say 46-year-old Terrance Harris and another man were wounded in the shooting that occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of South Orange Avenue. Harris was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later, while the wounded man was being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The wounded man’s name has not been disclosed.

Essex County prosecutors say a motive for the shooting remains under investigation. They declined to provide further details on the shooting, including what type of weapon was used.
