COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina native and graduate of the University of South Carolina’s journalism program is soon taking on a prominent reporting role at The Washington Post.

On Monday, 27-year-old Josh Dawsey joins the paper’s White House reporting team.

Dawsey grew up in Aynor and graduated in 2012 from the University of South Carolina, where he was editor-in-chief of The Daily Gamecock student paper and earned a bachelor’s in journalism. For the past year, he has been a White House reporter for Politico.

Prior to that, Dawsey covered politics for The Wall Street Journal for four years, writing about Gov. Chris Christie and state issues before moving to New York City to cover Mayor Bill de Blasio.
