RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A man has been fatally struck by an Amtrak train in Richmond.

Police were called to the scene just before 6 p.m. Sunday. Officers said in a statement Monday that witnesses saw the man walking south along the tracks toward the train when he was struck

Richmond police Lt. Faith Flippo tells the Times-Dispatch the death appears to be an accident and authorities saw nothing to suggest foul play.

WRIC-TV reports the train was going from Lorton, Virginia, to Sanford, Florida. Amtrak says there were no injuries to any crew members or passengers.

The train was delayed for around three hours.

The victim wasn’t immediately identified.
